Nos lo pasamos de maravilla en casa de Dermot: apartamento limpio, hermoso y cálido. La vista es increíble y el gran patio nos permitió comer y relajarnos mientras contemplamos esta hermosa ciudad:). Gracias de nuevo!

Pasamos unos días en este hermoso lugar y nos gustó mucho. La vista es increíble, cuando miras desde una habitación tienes toda la ciudad ahí mismo. El lugar está súper cerca del famoso Callejón del Beso y del Monumento al Pipila. Si no quieres tomar las calles estrechas que suben la colina, hay un teleférico que va desde el centro.
Los apartamentos son súper cómodos, había todo lo que necesitábamos, microondas, cafetera, jabón, toallas limpias e incluso un libro con lugares y restaurantes recomendados en los alrededores. Internet fue bastante rápido ya que también trabajo mientras viajo, es muy importante para mí tener buena conexión a Internet. También conocimos al propietario, es un tipo agradable y divertido que trabaja duro para mantener el lugar en buen estado. ¡Gracias por una gran experiencia y definitivamente regresaremos!

Beautiful place with so much energy in this magical town, the host was fantastic giving me tips and what to do in the pueblo. Bed are really comfortable, I have slept at peace for all my stay. The volounteers and community aspect of this place make it really enjoyable to be.
To the guy who have take the time to make 3 different account to make negative reviews, you must be a really sad dude, dogs are everywhere in mexico, you can't control that.

Great location and great value for money. The rooms were super comfortable, clean and only a 5 minute walk to the city centre. Dermot was very friendly and had a wealth of knowledge of the city.

Not sure if my other review is showing up. I recommend this place as I felt very comfy here and could work online due to the fast internet as Dermot (the owner) had suggested. Casa Pipila is my first choice when I return next year as I really like the neighbourhood and met lot's of friendly people here. When staying in Guanajuato this is the place to be.

Love this place. Have returned here 4 times now over the past 3 years. Anyone complaining about the hills or dogs hasn't spent much time in Guanajuato. Also the fiber optic internet is a real plus. Can't wait for my next visit.

Very comfortable accommodation with beautiful views of the city. The area felt very safe and the host Dermot was super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Just now seeing these negative reviews and thought I would share my experience. We stayed in July 2017 for 3 nights. Dermot was out of town but Martin met us by the Pipila statue and we walked down the hill to the apartment. Martin was very nice, gave us a tour of the apartment and from the balcony, gave us a little tour of the city below and where to go. The middle apartment that we rented was perfect for our stay. I didn't feel like we were in a ghetto and we walked down the hill several times during our stay and even up the hill a couple of times. Never during our entire stay did we feel like we were in any danger. The apartment itself was in good shape. The big jugs of water were a nice surprise so we didn't have to keep buying water during our stay. There was plenty of hot water - although with separate hot and cold faucets it took a little time to get the temp correct. Dogs? Yes, we experienced the barking dogs but found that they didn't bark all night long and it seemed like it wasn't specific to this area - we saw dogs all over the city. We enjoyed our stay.

Positives: Leaving

Negatives: the owner - 24/7 barking of dozens of poor neglected and abused dogs in this barrio - more than a 15 storey climb from town - every noise travels uphill

Dermot has a strict cancellation policy -if you get here and hate it you're screwed

"Someone who had a copy of the keys entered the apartment then stole over $200 USD cash from the carry-on bag that I left on the bed in my room. I grabbed my passport from the same pocket the money was in and saw it there. It is apparent the owner knows he is not securing trustworthy people to have access to his rentals. When I requested a refund of the apt rental amount (I can't get my stolen cash back), he only refunded me $10 (the bill was $163 for two days rental, but with over $363 loss altogether). Quite interesting that I paid a "cleaning fee" that couldn't be refunded at all, yet resulted in the cleaner stealing my money. Horrible experience"

Our friend who were staying in town were told not to walk at night there because it might not be so safe. When we got to the apartment there were there was not enough heat we were cold all night long. The second bed was really gross. It was so bad I had to sleep on a really uncomfortable couch. The whole thing was so uncomfortable we payed 2 nights and only spend one there. "
