46Fantastico lugar. Personal maravilloso.
I was in PV for a night, and chose this hostel as the cheapest spot. I hadn't had a great day, and it continued at this hostel. I was initially given a room that was actually full, and in the room I was given there were no outlets near my bed and the one on the counter was broken, meaning I could only charge my phone on the bathroom sink. It's not a location that you can walk to unfortunately, though there is a bus that goes by if you can catch it. I left too early to try the breakfast. Reasonably clean, not super quiet, and eat before you come - not much nearby!
At the very least you'll leave Oasis with a couple stories to tell. This is not an "instagram" hostel, you get what you pay for and hopefully you're happy because there's no refunds. That's not to say that it's an unpleasant spot - it has a lot going for it - but for many people it won't be the ideal vacation basecamp.
The positives: staff are friendly and accommodating for the most part, homemade breakfast every morning is delightful (although you may get sick of huevos rancheros after a few days), the location is within walking distance to the core of the zona romantica and on a major roadway making bus and taxi transit easy to navigate. There's also a great rooftop terrace where you can soak up the sun and enjoy the breeze that is absent at street level.
The negatives: the standard of cleanliness is pretty low, don't be surprised to share your bed with ants or even cockroaches. If you stay in the private rooms you should prepare for a pretty intense mildew stench which can be hard to ignore (maybe pack a scented candle!) While the owners are very nice and help as much as they can, their english is very limited. You're in Mexico, so hopefully you speak some Spanish, but if you have a booking issue or a complicated question the language barrier can be hard to navigate.
The.interesting: for better or for worse this hostel attracts some characters. If you so desire you'll have plenty of strange conversations. You may end up stuck in those conversations even if you DON'T desire to be, but that's life. While I was there a man opted to pee in a bottle every night rather than walk up the stairs to the bathroom. Maybe you don't want to stay with someone like that, your call.
I stayed there for a second time and the staff there accommodated me very well. Orquídea is a very nice person she listened to all my requests and fulfilled them. This place is like a big family where people get together.
Anfitriones increíbles. Gran desayuno complementario con café. Muy limpio. Hermosa azotea.
Old place that has seen better days, but it's got lots of character (and characters!), great rooftop area, strong safes in rooms, friendly staff, cheap rates, only a short, safe walk to all the Zona Romantica action, I would use again if I needed to stay in P. V.
Super buena vibra! Orqui y Esme nos atendieron super amables y a disposición siempre. Recomendadisimo!
Can I give 0 to location? Also staff was not friendly they tried to get me to pay almost 600 pesos because I decided not to stay there after I realized the place was 30 minutes walking up hill to get to and kinda of crippy coming back at night alone plus you have to cross a highway to get to the hostal I walking also room was super disgusting and owner forced me to drink bad milk in morning when I clearly told her it had turned which of course I didn't drink but then I noticed she left it there for other people to drink so beware amigos.anyway horrible location noise dirty old room completely uncared for no soap in private rooms smells of sewerage in rooms and unfriendly staff I was initially to stay there for 7 days I was only able to mentally sustain one night then had to haggle my way out of there
The property and staff are absolutely awesome. You'll love your time here as long as you don't expect it to be a world-class hotel with Michelin star restaurants.
One thing you cannot say about the staff is that they don't clean. Mom & I were there for three days and it constantly smelled like cleaner. We always saw undeniable proof of the property being cleaned.
Staff members are very friendly and don't mind communicating with those that aren't fluent Spanish speakers. The lady that runs the place knows almost no English, so break out your Google Translate, but she's super kind.
You'll get a key to the room & keys for your lockers.
Hostel is constantly surrounded by buses + taxis. It's within 15-20 min walking distance of many dining options and activities, including a soothing river.
Things can get a little loud at night due to the hostel's neighbors, particularly the church. Break out the noise cancelling headphones. And the beds are not even remotely great. You'd probably be happier sleeping in one of the patio chairs. But if you can look past those things, you'll love your time here.
Quiet. Great staff. Friendly. Complementary Real breakfast every morning. Usually older crowd. 20 minute walk to the beach.
The place is on top of a mountain. The weather is awesome. It is very cool at night. The staff are very nice and flexible. Though Arcadia does not speak English but she communicates with loads of kindness and warmth. I travelled alone and everyone in the hostel was like family. I stayed in a female dorm where there is a shared bathroom and shower.
Worst place ever, they discriminate and have the worst service. Not hospitality at all. Had to leave right away.
Si vuelvo a puerto vallarta, me volvía a hospedar acá
