These folks are leading the way with cultural appropriation and taking advantage of indigenous land and practices to make money for themselves. Expect to pay $500 a night for rustic accommodations owned by white expats that hire low cost Mexican labor. The name of this retreat center is named Haramara - which is the name of one of the local sacred sites of the indigenous Wixarikas (or otherwise known as Huichols) in the area. However, no credit to these native peoples are given, nor any proceeds of the money this retreat center rakes in is donated to preserving this culture, people or way of life.

Sincerely one of the biggest rip offs. For sure the fact that folks want to pay $500 a night to stay in a cabin with zero comforts is a big indicator that, as a culture, we need to figure out how to reduce some stress in our life. What's up with this place? The owners and staff are not friendly or welcoming; the food is sparse and over priced (you'll be hungry after dinner), and to get to the cabins you will have to walk along a steep slope that has no lighting for about ten minutes (be sure to bring a flashlight or use your cell phone flashlight because there is no way to see otherwise if you walk in the dark, which you probably will if you eat dinner at their restaurant).

This was an amazing experience for me and our group. Wonderful food, beautiful views, and an amazing retreat experience. The hostess and her staff were both professional and kind. I look forward to coming back next year.

Our yoga studio planned a retreat to Haramara in May. Due to the COVID the retreat center was closed and all flights to Mexico were canceled during our retreat scheduled. We sadly had to cancel our retreat and refund all our guest money.

Haramara will still not return our deposit of $4,400, return phone calls or emails. It clearly states in the contract that "in the event that access to Haramara Retreat is denied or restricted by any means beyond our control, whether natural or man made, and we must cancel your reservation, all deposits will be refunded in full. "

They have not returned our deposit with multiple emails Do not book with this company. Corporate offices do not even follow their own contracts!

Awful! The food wasn't good, they have bats inside the cabanas that defecate on the cabana- disgusting.

Best massages from Marcelo and Jay. Completely different styles and each amazing. Open air palapa w sounds of the waves and warm breezes. $105usd worth every penny if you want a truly therepuetic massage vs a beach massage. Booked by emailing the property a few days in advance.

Beautiful location. Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. It feels very natural, as if barely touched by humans, yet comfortable and almost luxurious in many ways.

I stayed for a week for a yoga retreat, and had a spa treatment, went on a jungle walk, and participated in temescal ceremony. All were wonderful.

The casitas and the dorm are open to fresh air and have no electricity. There are plenty of oil lamps and candles though, so this is more like a great motivation to get off the phone.

There's phone signal by the pool and by the spa.

There are many bodywork modalities available at the spa. Many people in my group had different treatments and all were happy.

The food exceeds expectations: the chef is very talented and creative in composing healthy and nutritious fusion style dishes out of great range of fresh local ingredients.

The infinity pool is dreamy for watching sunsets from.

The staff is caring beyond words. Always there on the ground, committed to service, and seem to just love it.

The buildings are spread out over the hill, so I wouldn't recommend it to the folks who can't walk up and down the hill trails and uneven steps.

I'm dreaming of going back though.

A friend and I have been leading yoga retreats here for 3 years and have 2 more years booked. There's just too many great things about Haramara to explain. The staff is beyond amazing, the land is peaceful and the accommodations are a perfect blance between nature and convienence. The food is beyond delicious and the wait staff can't be beat.

Yoga. Rustic luxury. HEAVEN. No sounds except the ocean, crickets and birds. Open air cabanas, no power, candle, lamp and moon light. Amazing cotton sheets, turned down every night. Healthy delicious food served with extreme hospitality. Simple elegance and outstanding service. Private beach. I needed rest and exercise and that is exactly what I got. Oh and the best massages of my life. Golf carts available to run to Sayulita.if you can tear yourself away.

Terrible food! If you want to sleep on a cabana with bats.go to this place! You'll wake up (if you were lucky enough to sleep in the terrible heat) covered by bat's feces! Horrible place, very deceiving website and what they offer.

This place is fantastic! I was worried about safety when I was booking my trip. Airport to Haramara was simple and safe. They pick you up. And the bad guys are not headed to a yoga retreat to find you. LOL.

Great spa, Amazing Yoga, Paddleboarding is Beautiful. I simply love it here.

Spent a blissful, week at Haramara in late January/ early February. The most beautiful rooms, staff, food, yoga. Cannot say enough about this place to do it justice. It's a must do for yogis or anyone seeking a quiet time in the lap of luxury.
