Hostal Casa de Dante

La dueña es súper simpática, el desayuno es grande y rico, los cuartos son muy limpios con mucho arte mexicano. Fue una de las experiencias más maravillosas en México.

Our stay at Casa de Dante was very mixed. We had 1200 MXN and 20 USD stolen from our bags. Unfortunately, we know that this was done by someone who works at the hostel, as we had a private room and kept the door always locked while we weren’t there. As we didn’t want to have to write a negative review, we emailed the hostel directly after our departure, but did not receive a reply. We believe that this is organized from within, as you can scroll down and find multiple reviews describing similar experiences to ours pointing out that they had emailed the hostel after they left and did not receive a reply. Furthermore, there is one review to which the manager replied, attempting to discredit the traveller’s experience. This was incredibly disappointing for us, as we had quite enjoyed our stay at the hostel, experiencing stunning views, delicious breakfasts, and very relaxed vibes. In summary, if you are planning to stay at Casa de Dante, make sure to lock up your valuable belongings, or take them with you when you leave the room.

Excelente lugar para quedarse, todo el personal es muy amable contigo, te explican como llegar a los atractivos turísticos, la habitación muy limpia, la vista es excelente y lo mejor de todo es el desayuno, esta delicioso, sin duda alguna regresaría.

Backpackers beware! Cash was stolen from our private room while we were at breakfast - we had locked all doors and windows so it had to be staff. Our bags had also been searched through to try to find more cash - my wallet had been searched through to get more USD, and my cards had been looked through as well.hoping they didn't take pictures of my cards to further scam us later. Would not recommend to any travellers.

EDIT IN RESPONSE TO MANAGER: I emailed the hostel with further details and didn't get a reply - another previous guest also emailed with the same issue and didn't receive a response either. Also, the manager refers to security cameras on site but they do not exist.

Très bien mais au milieu de la pente, seul accès est par l' escalier 250 marchés. Tenez en compte avant de réserver.

Best Hostal in Guanajuato for sure! The staff and workers including Dany, Paty, and Irene are all phenomenal and made the experience in Guanajuato the best ever. The view is so worth staying at the hostel for and the free breakfast is the best I’ve ever had at a hostel. They have great options for Spanish classes, guided hikes, cooking classes, and yoga classes all for under 100 pesos. A must stay place in Guanajuato!

No good experience here. The cleaner stole all my cash while I was showering and smiled in my face a minute earlier.

My brother, my daughter and I spent an amazing few days at this beautiful hostel. The host couldn't have been more welcoming, the breakfast was wonderful, plenty of hot water and comfy beds.

Muy agradable el ambiente, los desayunos muy ricos, provoca sensación hogareña.

El único detalle son las escaleras, pero en Guanajuato todo es subir y bajar, así que después de 2 días ya uno tiene condición para las escaleras que llevan al hostal.

Me encantó, yo ocupe un dormitorio y mi cama era cómoda, el espacio para guardar mis pertenencia fue adecuado.

Las habitaciones están decoradas muy padres y el hostal tiene muchos lugarcitos bonitos para las que somos super fan d las fotos.

Además de que su personal es muy amable y su comida riquísima

Las instalaciones estas excelentemente bien, todo muuuuy limpio. El acceso es muuuuy complicado, hay q subir como 150 escalones.
No me dijeron q había desayuno incluido, solicité mi factura, me dijeron q en 5 días tratarían de mandarla, no se cual es el problema de emitir una factura al momento, si se supone todo es correcto, espero en verdad la manden, el locker q me asignaron, jamas se pudo abrir

Easily the best hostel experience I’ve ever had. The building is amazing - so much detail and character. Two amazing Terrazas with incredible views of the city.

The owner, Irena, is so nice. She makes the (free) breakfasts herself, and they’re the best breakfasts I had in Mexico. Each day is different, with fruit shaped like an animal, fresh fruit juice, amazing coffee, plus a main dish (see the pictures).

Would love to stay here again!

Great hostel if you don't have any mobility issues (gotta climb probably ~100 stairs to get there). Breakfast is very complete and the ladies from the staff are super nice. Homemade Mexican breakfast every morning in the kitchen, with vegetarian options. There's a cool rooftop as well where you can have some drinks or cigarettes.

Ubicación 10 aunque son pesadas las escaleras, vale la pena por la mejores vistas panorámicas de Guanajuato, amabilidad por mamá casera 1000, limpieza otros 1000, sazón de la comida 1000, ambiente nacional y extranjero 100 estrellas, disponibilidad y variabilidad de recamaras otras 100 estrellas, comida 10, sazón 10, presentación 10, conectividad wifi excelente, danyboy tu muy bien, el personal amable siempre.

Espectacular hostel. Irene, la mujer que lleva el hostel, es un amor de persona. Prepara el desayuno y mientras va hablando con todos los huéspedes, comentando sobre historia de México, cultura, interesándose por los lugares de donde son las personas y creando un ambiente muy agradable. Tanto es así que nos quedábamos a veces horas charlando después de desayunar. El ambiente en el hostel es también muy bueno, el desayuno increíble y todo perfecto. De 10.

Muy buen lugar, muy tranquilo con una vista increible, eso si muchas escaleras, necesitas un buen aliento para llegar, todo esta a mínimo 10 escalas, el baño, la cocina, todo, pero es muy buen sitio.

El lugar es muy bueno, la vista es buena, el servicio es excelente los desayunos son un plus, y en este lugar te incluyen lockers con llave!
Lo unico que hay que subir escalones pero valen la pena

Recordaré a la señora de la cocina hablando con su ayudante acerca de historia y política mexicana. Fue grata mi estancia y lo recomiendo para personas que busquen experiencias distintas a lo común, les felicito:)

Booked this hostal for 3 nights, only stayed 2. It’s located halfway up a nice stairway, but brace yourself for the 170+ steps to your room. The payoff is a great view of the city. Our room smelled overwhelmingly of the many toilet pucks hanging from the back of our toilet - when I took them out (the smell was nauseating) we realized it was to cover up the smell of the plumbing:/ showers ran out of warm water really quickly if they had any. Rooms were very basic with poor lighting.

Breakfasts were nice and the cook is really sweet and accommodating if you have any dietary restrictions! Overall we were disappointed in the price for a private room considering the amenities and distance from the center.
