66Got a takeaway tonight 2 vindaloos, rice, naan and veg pakora what can I say delivered within 1hr food was still pipping hot 100% recommend vindaloo had the right amount of heat to flavour balance and 1 meal enough for 2 people thank you see you again soon
No es comida india. No se parece en nada a la comida de la india. El lugar es agradable pero la comida es una decepción.
Whether you dine in or get take out, India Gate has amazing and authentic cuisine. The Tika Masala and Butter Chicken are both amazing. After eating at this location several times and getting take out, it is truly great food. Their young new waiter is also a Gentlemen!
Being the only Indian restaurant in town, it has its leverage.
I’m Indian, so my taste buds lean more towards the well spiced Indian meal. This just wasn’t it. I requested the chef to make it nice and spicy as an Indian would have it. But it wasn’t there.
Presentation and service was good.
Great food and great service! The samosas are fabulous and the India Gate Special drink was very light and tasty!
Super yummy! Best indian food I’ve ever had. Wonderful service, and also the most amazing naan. Great place for take out also!
UPDATE: dropping to one star, my friend who had the lamb korma woke up in the middle of the night with major food poisoning - vomiting, fever, aches and stomach cramping. Timingwise, the symptoms add up to when she ate from India Gate.
We ordered via UberEats. Unfortunately there seems to be something lost in translation with the prawn tikka masala. What I received was an extremely pale pink sauce that tasted more like sweet cream, almost like a coconut curry to be honest. No taste of spices whatsoever, it was just bizarre. Not bad, just bizarre… and definitely not tikka masala. Also, there were only 4 small, curled up prawns in it. That was definitely not worth the upcharge compared to the other tikka masala proteins.
We’ve both had Indian food on four continents, dozens of countries. This was the strangest tikka masala we’ve encountered in our travels.
My friend ordered the lamb korma and she thought it was good, she asked for it mild and it came as so, her only note was that it seemed heavy on the cream. There was a lot of lamb though and it was tender.
We ordered two different types of naan, the garlic and the coconut raisin. My friend said don’t order the coconut raisin for delivery since everything fell off via transit. The garlic naan I got, the dough tasted old. Like stale old, like a stale cracker taste.
We went with this place because they were on UberEats and needed a break from Mexican food while on our trip, but now I’m wishing we went somewhere else.
Worst food experience of my life. I ordered a cheese naan, basmati rice and chicken madras. The Uber delivery arrived late. I tracked his journey and he picked up the food then returned to the restaurant- apparently you gave him the wrong order. By the time my food arrived it was cold.
I had requested utensils. I’m staying in a hotel with no food amenities which is why I ordered uber eats. I don’t carry utensils with me. I couldn’t eat my food as had nothing to eat it with.
After specifically requesting NO cilantro the cheese naan and basmati rice both came filled with it! I could not eat the naan since it was filled with cilantro - the only thing I could possible eat without utensils.
The Tikka Masala looked weak and smelled like a chicken korma. It was yellow- not red like a masala. What a waste of my money, time and energy. I couldn’t eat any of it! Disappointing.
When compared to Indian cuisine you would have in the US/UK the food here is close in everything but taste, which has been altered through a usage of local flavors. The food is GOOD!
The major difference seems to be the usage of sweet and spicy pepper, rather than a reliance on spices to achieve what is now a flipped burst of sweet spicy->flavor rather than a flavor->slow burn with US/UK based foods.
Service was attentive and kind.
Heard one guy sitting at the bar, also from the US, explaining loudly to one of the employees at the bar that “This is the absolute best indian i have ever had, and indian is my favorite food! Im a big man” he continued while patting his belly in explanation “and i am NOT leaving here till i finish”
Fantastic food and great service. Very nice change of pace for dinner. Fresh margarita, not pre-made with a tequila splash on. Amazing flavors on everything.
Getting worse at every visit.we've eaten here 3 times over the last 3 months, and the quality is going downhill. Today's lunch was virtually tasteless, bread was swimming in butter, and pakoras were overdone. They need to replace the chef.
I went to Puerto Vallarta and found this place. Really like the food here. They just need to work on their Kadai Paneer which was not cooked properly. People and staff here is super nice and friendly. Looking forward to visit again soon.
I’ve had Indian food in London, NY and this is one of the best experiences. The lamb and the butter chicken were amazing; I asked the manager and she mentioned that they import several species to Puerto Vallarta to keep the authentic flavor they have, I am not vegan but my partner is; and she also enjoyed the experience. If you are in Vallarta and you are tired of the same food everywhere this is the best alternative.
Best indian food ever! Better than the states. Great tasty curry. Exceptional service. Great atmosphere. Would recommend 10/10. Will go back
This is not authentic Indian food! Trust me, I’ve visited India and Nepal, where the food is actually delicious. I didn’t think it was possible for garlic naan to taste inedible until I ordered from India Gate. The tikka masala was also questionable. But, hey, if you like weird cheesy tomato sauce, I guess this is the place for you!
Great food and great service. Lovely place to eat some authentic Indian food. I would definitely eat here again.
We loved it all! The food was delicious and the service was excellent too. The owner, Andrea, was super patient explaining the different options and accommodating our different requests (including vegan food), you can tell she has great passion and expertise for Indian cuisine. I definitely recommend this place as it also has a great location, so you can go for a walk around town and the malecón before, and then have a drink at a bar afterwards. We will come back for sure, thanks Andrea!
The best Indian restaurant in Vallarta, they have vegan and vegetarian menu with the best taste. Thanks to Andrea the best host in the Ganze Welt
Being of Indian origin and living in Vallarta I occasionally eat out at India Gate. Try the Chicken Korma but ask them to add a little more spice so it’s not to bland. One of their better dishes. The Garlic Naan and Gulaab Jamun for dessert are the perfect way to finish off the evening. Some of the dishes are average but I found the ones I mentioned on par with any other curry house I have encountered on my travels.
Great food, great service! Owner is always pleasant. If your Indian or like hot food, ask for it hot.
