Please note, this is for The Estates, not the Grand Luxxe:

Our spring break trip was “complicated” secondary to an issue with the timeshare/sales department, which unfortunately permeated into our day-to-day activities the entire week…

Let me first start off by saying that this was our second time staying at The Estates, and we have nothing but great things to say about the service and employees specifically at The Estates. However, the issues surrounding the Sales and Spa departments significantly impacted the quality of our relaxation and overall experience.

Alejandra, who I would consider to be a sales presentation recruiter, was waiting for us after our check-in at The Estates with the promise of tickets to the Sara Evans on Wednesday. Alejandra verbatim told us this concert was “sold out” but she had tickets to offer. This was the ONLY reason we agreed to go to the timeshare pitch.

We attended the timeshare presentation Sunday morning, a few highlights:
The pitch was significantly over the promised 60 min after breakfast (we started at 8am check-in, left at 11: 45 or so).
The pitch was quite pushy, especially after we declined multiple times.
Promises of the manager to return in “just a few minutes” stretched into multiple instances of 15-20 minute waits for him to return.
A sales pitch of 1.6 million dollars for a 3 BR unit ultimately went down to ~$120,000. Ridiculous…

So… Monday or Tuesday roll around and it turns out that Sarah Evans has to cancel her Wednesday show. Vidanta arranges for Neil McCoy to take her place. Not interested in seeing Neil McCoy, we asked that a different incentive be offered to us instead of the Neil McCoy tickets. The sales people flat out refused to accommodate. We were stuck with tickets we did not want.

Another concern: At the timeshare, we were given a piece of paper detailing what benefits were available to us for having attending the timeshare presentation. One of the benefits was a 50 min relaxing massage for $69. We booked two of these massages at The Estates spa and specifically showed the employee who booked the massages the Vida card provided to us at the timeshare (just like they instructed us to do). No massage prices were posted or disclosed to us at the time they were booked (although there was a Mexican tourist “bill of rights” sitting on the check in podium specifically detailing that their prices HAD to be displayed/disclosed).

My two teenage sons received their massages and signed the bill. (Side note, apparently my boys were supposed to be accompanied by an adult in order to receive a massage per the spa policy, but the employees decided not to follow this policy?).

The day prior to our departure, we reviewed the hotel bill and saw that we had been billed 8400 pesos ($466) for the two 50-minute massages. Of course we were shocked and called both the spa and the sales department stating that we should only have been charged $138 total because we had the “vida card” and displayed it when we purchased the massages. Well, it was only then we were informed that in order to receive these promotions, we had to go to a travel agency location on the property to purchase tickets for relaxing massages.

Ultimately, the resort agreed to cut the price in half so that we paid ~$233 for the massages, but this is almost double what we were anticipating paying.

I have given the resort sales, spa and customer relations departments multiple opportunities to correct this issue before I posted a negative review on social media, and they all declined to fix the issue.

I have 4 more days left of my vacation here. I have alot to say, good & not so good. When I get home I will type up a longer review and give pointers how you can make your stay here the best you can. We have learned thru trial & error. Luckily, we met a lady on our flight here to share some wistom on how to navigate thru Mexico on a budget. We are in tower 5 and several ppl are still trying to figure out how we are able to stay in this resort. Not sure if thats a compliment or racist comment.

It is an amazing, pro-family experience, loaded with memories. We are thankful to have Vidanta in our lives!

Very luxurious but it’s such a big resort that it takes time to get anywhere. Check in process with transportation from the airport takes a long time. The shuttle service sometimes requires waiting. The staff is unbelievably kind, pleasant and polite. No one is in a hurry. The dining options are good and varied. It’s a world of its own and we didn’t venture out.

A beautiful resort! The week we spent there was beyond amazing. Not once were we unhappy. The room service food was wonderful, the taco place in the plaza was out standing, and the groceries at the plaza were fresh and decent. We all loved the pizza (room serives) and the sub sandwiches from the meat counter. Our house keepers were friendly and effective in keeping our space clean and respecting our privacy when we put the sign up (if you go to bed early please remember to put the sign up since they may do a late afternoon/evening cleaning) the concierge was extremely helpful in scheduling activies and answering questions. Ton and tons of walking paths, and by day 3 or 5, you will have a handle on where you are and which path gets you where quickly (signage all over so you shouldn't get lost) there are also propery golf carts to transport you from different points (I finally figured those out by day 6 lol) the beach was a lovely spot to catch the sun set and if you go from property to property you will get approximately 10 to 15k steps a day and it's worth it. We felt safe and really had no complaints.
Also, we never had to attend a presentation (it was offered once, and we politely declined, and they respected that and wasn't an issue)

Grand Luxxe, Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta is part of a luxury vacation resort as part of their private residence club built over 12 years ago. Buildings closest to the Beach are always in high demand and some do go as far as half a mile away from the ocean. Always ask for tower 1,2 or 3 if available

Concierge service and shuttle drivers are the absolute best!

There is a scented aroma diffuser that marks your location and feels like home when you enter. The decor is absolutely stunning and I never tired of walking though the entire place. The mica stone tiles in the grand foyer and lobby are exquisite.

Room service is amazing and beautifully presented. Spoil yourself and order something from room the service menu. The European platter is wonderful.

The rooftop pool has an amazing view, ample comfortable seating and lounge areas, feels very exclusive and is clean and beautiful. Poolside servers are abundant and service is great!

Flooring and some furnishings in the room were worn and even broken. Our bed fell apart the moment we sat on it and we ended up sleeping first night with mattress on the floor. However, it was fixed the next day without us saying anything. Decor inside the room is a bit excessive and gets in the way of my own stuff. Had to shuffle around pillows, vases and decor items daily to make room for personal belongings. Kitchenette is well appointed but lacks basics like salt and pepper. Does have a wine bottle opener and wine glasses, knife and cutting board. Shame to pay for every little thing like water and coffee.

Expect daily service to the room including putting the decor back where it "belongs" while you're gone during the day, and turn down service in the evening. Someone enters the room at least 2 times daily, FYI.

Cuando te hospedas aquí puedes contar con todas las amenidades que gustes. Tiene servicio al cuarto 24h. El hotel es lindo aunque tiene un estilo contemporáneo que no destaca.

Oh boy do I have a list of things I did not like about this place. Hands down it is beautiful. It took 4 hours to check in. Then I had to sit through 6 hours of a timehshare preso, which they seemed annoyed that I was asking a lot of questions. (I did not buy one). You have to take carts nearly everywhere less get lost or walk for 20 mins. Their signs on the toepaths are hopelessly out of date and confusing. The hotels are mostly just rooms. You have to leave the hotel for everything. At check in time the carts get really backed up and I was taking 40 mins to get anywhere which was really off putting. You are pretty much trapped on the property. It is not easy to leave. There were only one or two moderate priced places to eat and they were hidden away. The expensive ones were passable at best, but the service was always great. And this place is mostly retirees. The place gets super quite after 9, so don't expect a lively atmosphere. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't have described any of it as lively. Ever. Which I guess that is good if that is what you're looking for. Finally, we were supposed to have all access, but got kicked out of places no less than 5 times. UMMM - I don't need to gate crash; just tell me where I can and can't go upfront. OH - and ask one employee something and then another and you'll always get two different answers. And some of the employees confided about deceptive employment practices and that the place does everything it can to prevent people from becoming Full time.
